Description
These slides and coverslips are placed on the microscope stage to facilitate the observation of microorganisms. The microscope slides and coverslips are commonly used auxiliary food testing equipment.

When observing a small object with a normal microscope, is required to use a transparent piece of glass to carry the small object, which is called the glass slide. And a smaller piece of glass, which is called the coverslip glass, is placed over the object.

Slide (c): is a transparent glass or quartz plate which is used to place the small objects when observing the small objects under a microscope. When making a sample, place a small object (observed object, such as a biological cell or tissue section) on the slide near the middle, and place the cover slip (b) on the small object to form a specimen combination. As the above schematic diagram 1, the specimen combination is placed on the black stage (d) of the microscope, the observation object is at the position of the large hole of the stage, the cover slip is facing upward, and the objective lens of the microscope (a) is close to the top of the cover slip.

Coverslip (b): is a square glass or quartz sheet for covering on the observation, which is smaller and thinner than the slide. Its main function is to avoid the observed object to contacting with the outside world and the objective lens, and to make the observation object to form into a thin flat layer with a uniform thickness. Of course, coverslips also have a round shape. As shown in the following diagram 2, when there is more liquid or observed object from the slide, after covering the cover slip, some excess liquid is still squeezed around the cover slip. In this case, dry it with a clean paper, to avoid the pollution.
